The College of Charleston is a public liberal arts college in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in 1770 and chartered in 1785, it is the oldest college in South Carolina, the 13th oldest institution of higher learning in the United States, and the oldest municipal college in the country

The College of Charleston Men's Rugby Football Club was founded in 2002. Since then the club has steadily grown into a powerful club in the southeast. As part of the newly restructured USA Rugby Southern Conference Coastal Division, the Cougars are in one of the most competitive district in the country.
